Hi Friends,
I am starting off the blog stating that February is my favorite month of the year. That's because it's my birthday month and I tend to fill the days and evenings with fun outings with my friends and family.
This past Friday, I was invited to host a 12-person encaustic printmaking workshop in my studios. Undergraduates from Denver University filled the spaces with loads of energy! We spent the six-hour workshop discussing my work, and how I integrate my love of travel with my abstract paintings, encaustic painting demos and printing techniques. Finally, it was time on the hotboxes where they got busy working and creating monoprints.
By the end of the afternoon the wall was overflowing with pinned gestural black encaustic prints from their first exercise to later works with color mixing and add-ins. DU Professor Deborah Howard even got in the action and made a beautiful mermaid monoprint.
This week I have appointments with several art patrons looking at my work in the gallery and possibly working with me on a commission. As my studio and gallery are by appointment only, I enjoy spending quality time with interested art patrons.
And the cherry on top of the month is a trip to New Zealand, my first foray in the land Down Under. I will be hiking two weeks on the South Island with my husband and the third week spending time on the North Island seeing art, sightseeing and enjoying my birthday on Waiheke Island.
P.S. I will be adding photos and updates during the trip!
